Sebastián Cattán

Born in Ecuador in February 1986. Sebastián Cattán, actor, director, and above all, a dramaturge who began his craft at the same time as his career on the stage. He studied formally at Belisario Club de Cultura in Buenos Aires, Argentina, EMDA in Mar del Plata, and the Escuela Metropolitana de Arte Dramático, also in Buenos Aires, places that gave him a broad vision of theatre and where he met teachers who became friends.
He trained at the Belisario Club de Cultura for 10 years with Marcelo Savignone, focusing on territories such as: Melodrama; Balinese Mask; Jester; Clown; Comedy, Moliere, Chekhov; Beckett: Shakespeare; Tragedy; Commedia del Arte; Body in Silence; Tragic Clown; Improvisation; Neutral Mask; among others. He worked in 6 plays with Marcelo Savignone. He was part of his pedagogic team for 6 years.
He was a member of Diego Cazabat’s theatre research group. He was a professor at UDLA. He managed the theatre La Butaca 52. He was a professor at IAVQ.
For him, it was vital to maintain the relationship with Ecuador since his student days, which is why his creations have been produced for both stages. In 2007 he brought together artists from Argentina and Ecuador, and inaugurated the group Deus ex machina, which is defined as the fusion of various arts on stage. It is under his direction.
